Our Kitchen
Just a few sneaky close-ups of our nearly finished kitchen. We're loving the concrete countertops, backsplash and windowsills.
More photos soon.

Tree Swing
We're in the midst of a squillion projects around here... but I'm already planning the next one. There are few things Makensey loves more than swinging, and I've been thinking about ways to add a swing set to our backyard while also improving the landscape. I checked out a gardening book at the library last summer which had a section about "adding a touch of whimsy". It was my favorite part of the book. I would love our backyard to feel more like a fairytale and less like... well... a playground.
I found my answer.
A tree swing.
Is there anything more whimsical than a tree swing?
Now, lets see if I can get Justin to do another project :)

Food + Art
Since we've been trying to eat more plant-based meals, we've been planning just about every meal ahead of time and doing our shopping based on a menu. It's the only way to stick with it! My favorite part about menu planning is online research :) ... mainly food blogs. I pin some of my favorite recipes onto my recipe board on Pinterest. Feel free to take a look!
This recipe is from one of my favorite food blogs, The Vegan Stoner.
What's better than food and art combined?!
... and yes, the Avocado Pudding is as good as it looks.

Eat Real Food
After watching Forks over Knives and reading The China Study, we've decided to switch to a whole foods plant based lifestyle. We've been slowly transitioning into it for the last year or so, but now that we have lots of family on board and even more motivation, we're getting serious about it!
Meal planning (and eating) has been super fun so far, thanks to some great websites & blogs.

Home...
Working on home projects is the only thing that keeps us from going crazy in the winter. Our next big project: the kitchen. I'm hoping it'll turn out something like this....

New Year...
Justin and I made a trip to the beach just before Christmas to collect lots and lots of new driftwood :) Now that the holidays are over he's had some time to build a few new shelves for the shop, so I've been photographing, editing and posting new items over the past few days.
Here are some of our favorite shelves...

... and this neato little jewelry holder...
... and you can see the rest here.
We've already sold some of the new shelves, and we're pretty excited because tomorrow will be one year since we started the Etsy shop, and we made it to 95 sales today. Soooo close to 100! Yay!
